In this fast food world, let’s slow down to explore the stories and rituals of the table -- and remember together what feeds us and makes us human beings.

Jonathan Kruk and Rich Bala (Hudson River Ramblers)- Showcase- “Don’t Tread on ME”
Revolutionary Tales on Bullying and Character. Participants discovered how their own local history, can build character and deal with bullying. Using stories and songs from the American Revolution, The Hudson River Ramblers reveal values you may turn into learning activities in storytelling, schools, libraries and historic sites. Participants found out why “Yankee Doodle” helped George Washington win.
Here's just a few of the many websites out there on the topic. These are the ones I've found most helpful: www.thebullyproject.com: site related to documentary film "Bully" which premieres March 30, 2012 www.stopbullying.gov : US Dept. of Education site with resources for students, parents, educators, and the community www.stopbullyingnow.com: practical, research-based strategies and resources for reducing bullying in schools www.p12.nysed.gov/dignityact/: New York State Education Dept. site with info on "Dignity for All Students Act", which becomes a state law on July 1, 2012. I hope this info is helpful and useful. Take care, and hopefully we'll see each other at next year's conference! Best regards, Rich Bala www.hudsonriverramblers.com ![]() Photo by Vernon Cox

The youth tellers from Children at the Well Youth Storytellers for Peace & Understanding, their coaches and advisors, with Dr. Kevin Cordi.
Based in the Capital District of New York, this unique and intergenerational storytelling program has been building bridges between individuals, families, and communities for nearly seven years. Children at the Well won the 2006 Brimstone Award from NSN, and since then has mentored an increasing number of youth from many different traditions. It remains the only such group in the country.
Dear LANES storytellers, Thanks so much for coming to Albany!. It was such a pleasure to have Sharing the Fire in our area and be able to participate in all the great offerings.. An especially warm thank you to all of you who made up the audience for our Children at the Well Youth Storytellers for Peace and Understanding on Sunday morning. We told them that you would be a wonderful audience, but you surely went beyond all expectations. You were an audience "par excellence"! Your responses, laughter and encouragement brought out the best in each of them and for that we are most grateful. If any of you left thinking you would like more information on our program, possibly to adapt it in some way to addressing a need for understanding between diverse groups in your community, we would like to hear from you. We are in the process of planning follow-up with those who have shown an interest. Just send a brief note indicating your interest and providing your location and your contact information to Gert Johnson grsjohnson@aol.com. In the meantime, (thanks to our webmaster Kate Dudding) you can see pictures, read articles, listen to students tell stories at Children at the Well www.childrenatthewell.org With thanks for all the gifts and talents you shared with us at the conference and with prayers for the wonderful work that you do, Gert Johnson Coordinator: Interfaith Story Circle of the Tri-City Area Interfaith Story: Story Circles Community Liaison: Children at the Well Youth Storytellers for Peace and Understanding ![]() Photo by Vernon Cox
