Jo Radner – “From Seed To Tree: How To Grow Memories Into Stories”

10:45 AM – 12:15 PM         Workshop Session C 

Often our most vivid memories come out as sketchy anecdotes. How do we develop those funny or poignant moments into full, shapely stories to delight an audience of strangers? This active workshop offers novices a toolbox of techniques and practical experiments. By the end, you will have a new story.

Looking for extraordinary tales to tell? Carol Birch and her colleagues on the award committee introduce the distinguished woman behind the award, share the newest titles, and tell tales from past winners. Annotated bibliography of 130 books - useful for novices and experts alike - will be provided

Priscilla Howe –“Going Deep: Telling Tales of Epic Proportions”

Hungry for depth, substance, and a rich, tasty story experience? Long traditional stories can be a hearty feast in a fast-food two-minute world. We’ll look at why and how to choose, research, prepare and tell stories of epic proportions, the taproot of modern storytelling For intermediate and advanced storytellers.

Julia Morris -  “Journeys Through Narrative; Stories That Move and Sing” 

1:30 PM – 3:00 PM             Workshop Session D 

Join Julia M. Morris, a storyteller with Early Stages, Inc., as she moves you through the settings and imaginative terrain of various tales. In this interactive workshop, participants will employ the modalities of body, voice and imagination to enter, live inside, and extend the experience of story. Detailed hand-outs provided.

Geraldine Buckley- “From The Pen To Performance”

 3:15 PM - 4:45 PM        Workshop Session B

Are fascinating stories stuck inside you?  Do you have writers/tellers block?

Take this interactive workshop and through writing exercises to free up your imagination, help discovering your story’s arc, and practice telling your tale, your previously stuck story will develop a vibrant life of its own.

Leeny Del Seamonds- “Master Coaching with Leeny Del Seamonds”

 1:15 PM- 2:45 PM          Workshop Session A 

Bring stories to life with one-on-one coaching for all levels. Develop believable characters with depth and distinction and use body movements/mime, gestures, and vocal variety to breathe life into stories and keep them tight. Three storytellers chosen by lottery will present up to a 10-minute story or excerpt. Listeners welcomed!

Jeff Gere - In Your Face!  

3:15 PM - 4:45 PM        Workshop Session B

 If EYES be the window to the soul’ then FACE is soul’s yard, welcome mat & front door. With over 200 muscles, the storyteller’s face is a tool traveling the emotional landscape of a story’s psychological terrain. The views are vivacious, the glances gleeful & grim, mugs mirthful and melancholic. Jeff Gere’s facial aerobics lead theater games, improvisations, and stories exploring the subtlety, range and power of FACE.

John Porcino – “How to Tell a Darn Good Story”

10:45 AM – 12:15 PM   Sunday  Workshop Session C 

This is an experiential “playshop” in which participants are guided through the process of finding, learning, building and polishing stories for telling. The emphasis will be on finding the creative voice in each of us. Participants leave with at least one new story and a template for creating many more.

Judith Heineman and Julie Herrera – “Turning Your Travels into Tellable Tales”

Everyone brings something back from a trip – if only a memory. These treasured souvenirs are the makings of a unique new story waiting to be told. Choose something from your travels, exotic to mundane; bring it with you; learn to transform your travel experiences into an engaging story to share.

Deborah Freedman – Showcase-   “Grandma are you with me!”

Our time is now. Open to the heart's language, fairy tale, and create a story for the grandchildren, actual or perceived, we love. Give them a gift of story, integrated into their life, bringing a sense of well-being home.

Marni Gillard and Paula Weiss  - “Creating an Interfaith Youth Storytelling Program “

Along with Youth Storytellers:  Ilyssa Simsek and Rishi Reddy

1:15 PM- 2:45 PM          Workshop Session A

 Learn how Children at the Well came to be, grew and changed. Hear teens share tales, and hear about their experiences in the program. Brainstorm how you might engage youth and their families to create a dynamic, diverse storytelling group focused on peace and understanding in your community.

Carol Martino “It’s Not That Easy Being Green: Telling Tales of Redemption” 

( Showcase with workshop- 90 min. session.)

Carolyn Martino will present Masks, an autobiographical tale of self-acceptance and healing that Donald Davis calls “a beautiful work of courage, humor and honesty.” Learn to shape a difficult or challenging personal experience into a life-affirming story that is clear, accessible and safe for the listener.
